Send us photos of your favorite displays for the 2010
“Merchandising Award of Excellence” contest.
You work hard to
create attention-getting, sales-producing merchandising
displays, and Super Floral Retailing and Börgen
Systems want to reward you for your efforts. We’re excited
to announce the call for entries for the 2010 “Merchandising
Award of Excellence” contest.
The contest’s goals are to recognize the nation’s best
floral merchandising displays and to encourage supermarket and
mass-market florists to strive for new heights of excellence in
creativity and quality. Since we began the contest in 1998,
hundreds of florists from supermarkets nationwide and in Canada
have entered their favorite merchandising displays in the hopes
of winning the coveted Börgen Cup.
The contest deadline is April 30, but it’s never too soon to
enter. Entering is as simple as filling out the form (online at
www.superfloralretailing.com/borgencup.html) and
submitting photos of your displays. You may submit digital
images on a CD as long as they are presented in a
high-resolution (300 dpi) format, and a color print of each
image must accompany the CD. Photos will become the property of
Super Floral Retailing and may be published.
Enter as many displays as you like, but please submit a
separate entry form with each display. The contest is open to
floral department and store employees. Contestants will be
eligible to win the Grand Award just once, but there is no limit
on the number of Honor Awards individuals can receive.

The Grand Award winner
will receive a free trip to attend the International
Floriculture Expo (formerly called The Super Floral Show) in
Miami, Fla., on June 23, 2010, where he or she will be presented
the prestigious crystal Börgen Cup by the founder and CEO of
Börgen Systems, Arden Börgen. The winner will be
profiled in Super Floral Retailing.
Four Honor Award recipients in the categories of “Color
Harmony,” “Cross-Merchandising,” “Signage” and “Theme
Development” also will be recognized. Even those who aren’t
official winners might find themselves the focus of the
magazine’s monthly “Merchandising Merit” department, which
recognizes entrants’ exceptional merchandising displays.
For
your chance to win, follow these simple steps:
1) Photocopy and fill
out the form.
2) Attach color photos of your floral merchandising
displays.
3) Include a sheet providing explanations and descriptions.
4) Mail to Super Floral Retailing, 3300 S.W. Van Buren,
Topeka, KS 66611.
5) Beat the deadline of April 30, 2010.
The
Grand Award winner receives:
• the crystal Börgen
Cup, engraved with his or her name
• a free trip to Miami, Fla., to attend the International
Floriculture Expo (formerly called The
Super Floral Show) on June 23, 2010
• a feature article about the winning display in the August
2010 issue of Super
Floral Retailing
Who
can enter?
The competition is
aimed exclusively at supermarket and mass-market florists. Only
store employees are eligible to enter. The winning display must
appear within or near an in-store floral department. Flowers and
plants should be a major part of the display. Contestants will
be eligible to win the Grand Award just once, but there is no
limit on the number of Honor Awards individuals can receive.
The “Merchandising Award of Excellence” contest is sponsored by
Super Floral Retailing magazine and Börgen Systems.
