hardiness zone map updated
The National Arbor Day Foundation has
released an updated hardiness zone map. The map, which separates
the country into 10 temperature zones, reflects that many areas
have become warmer since 1990 when the last U.S. Department of
Agriculture “Plant Hardiness Zone Map” was published.
The foundation says many areas have shifted one full hardiness
zone, and some have even warmed two full zones. The foundation
based the map upon data from 5,000 National Climatic Data Center
cooperative stations across the continental United States.
