Mother's
day gifts
It’s a great idea to
cross-merchandise plants with other goodies from within your
store.
Here we’ve created three distinctive designs that include
nonfloral gifts you’ll find in other store departments that are
perfect for all kinds of mothers.
For the
mother who likes to read
This design is created for a lady who loves to read and garden. By combining
three gardening magazines with a potted miniature rose
plant, she’s sure to find hours of enjoyment reading about
her hobby and participating, too. Magazines can be picked to
match the colors of the plant or to feature a variety of
subjects to help personalize this gift. You could also have
your customers pick the periodicals that their moms will
love the most.
HOW TO:
Evenly space three magazines around a prewrapped miniature rose plant.
Secure the magazines in place with a large rubber band, and
cover the rubber band with ribbon, making an attractive bow
on the front.
MATERIALS: miniature rose plant with house wrap from
Nurserymen’s Exchange, Inc.; ribbon from Morex Corp.;
magazines from the periodical department of your store. |

For
the mother who loves to cook
By taking a potted bitter root (Lewisia) plant,
wrapping it in a colorful wrap and placing it into this
flour sifter, the “container” now becomes a unique and
useful gift. A pie server and a serving spoon, both
stainless steel to match the sifter, are then added to the
arrangement.
HOW TO:
Wrap the potted plant in the sheet of cello, then place it
into the sifter. Next, push the handles of the two utensils
into the soil of the plant to finish the arrangement.
MATERIALS: potted Lewisia plant from
Nurserymen’s Exchange, Inc.; Solid Flip Sheet from Temkin
International, Inc.; flour sifter, pie server and serving
spoon from the kitchen department of your store. |

the mother who deserves to be pampered
Every mom likes to be pampered. Here, a variety of products
are incorporated into a basket along with a beautiful moth
orchid (Phalaenopsis), perfect for sprucing up the
window of a bathroom or kitchen. A variety of lotions,
soaps, towels and other pamper products can be included,
depending on what your store carries, to create a soothing
gift set Mom will love.
HOW TO:
Gather a variety of lotions, soaps, sponges and other pamper
products from within your store. Combine them into a woven
wooden basket along with a potted orchid.

pot from Nurserymen’s Exchange, Inc.; basket and assorted
